Cons: The picture they show of the room is not even close to what I had to stay in. My room was old, smelled horrible, most of the lights did not work, and the shower head was broke. This has to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a hotel..
Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveller might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.
In the summer several hippie-style campgrounds open their camping sites. These are not directly in the city, but most of them are within an easy biking distance of town. In Holland however the weather sometimes makes it unpleasant to stay outdoors. Some campgrounds offer chalets for such cases.
Cons: The room was incredibly stuffy as there was no A/C. We couldn’t open the windows at night because the building construction next door started promptly at 7 am and the noise was unbearable with the windows open. Would never had booked here if I knew I would get about 2 hrs of sleep per night. The price was decent but now I know why!

Amsterdam’s Centraal train station leads directly to the city’s medieval centre, known as De Wallen. Home to the infamous Red Light District as well as Dam Square, this area features a variety of hotel options ranging from hostels and basic hotels to 5-star luxury accommodation.
Like most major cities Amsterdam is made up of a collection of neighbourhoods, each one with its own personality and selling points. There’s the 9-Straatjes, a small area in the centre that boasts lots of narrow streets lined with quirky shops and cafes. The Centrum is in a similar area and is perhaps the busiest spot in the city. It has a plethora of museums, lively bars, and top-notch shops that are a big hit with tourists and locals. Then there’s De Pijp, which is similar to the 9-Straatjes in appearance but has a lot fewer tourists. This is where you’ll find lots of the markets and local, independent stores. Jordaan is one of the best-loved neighbourhoods in the city, and is home to a lot of young creatives, up-and-coming bars, and street art. NDSM-Werf is similar to Jordaan in that it is hugely creative and is called home by a number of artists, musicians, and students. Then there’s Oud-Zuid, the richer part of the city that caters to expensive tastes and luxury desires.
Quiet, but reasonably close to the city centre. The host cares about your experience, and gives alot of helpful information about the apartment, the community, as well as transit info. The apartment is very well equipped.

Pros: The location is great, opposite Centraal Railway station and you avoid the added cost and hassle of catching a cab to your hotel. Most tourist spots are within walking distance. Staff was great, they let us check in early and check out late which helped us a great deal.
From the moment of booking online till leaving the apartment I felt taken care of. I was in contact with Vivian, who takes care of Esther’s apartments. She was quick with her replies to all my questions (I had many…) and also gave me awesome hints and tricks for my first stay in Amsterdam. Vivian was available and very flexible for our check-in time. The apartment itself was clean and made me feel at home. It is an apartment which doesn’t leak of character. Only the floor was pretty cold and I would recommend to future guests to bring warm socks or house shoes. In summertime, one might be happy with the cold. Heating, Wifi, hot water, beds: all perfect. The apartment is perfectly situated for guests who like to spend time in the city centre. Only a 10 minutes walk and you are there and still the road at the apartment is very quiet. The church bells are something different. I didn’t mind but my friend recommends earplugs. I highly recommend this apartment and will book again for the next time. Best regards Kim
The hotel is located near the centre, not far from Rembrandtplein in the De Pijp area of Amsterdam. All the sights such as Dam Square, Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein are close by. Museums such as the famous Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House and others are also in the vicinity. There are theatres and concert halls a short distance from the hotel, which can be reached using public transportation. Restaurants and bars can be found within around 100 m of the hotel, and there are shops within about 1 km.This city hotel offers a total of 21 non-smoking rooms, most of which were refurbished by the end of 2006, providing clean and reasonably priced tourist accommodation in the heart of Amsterdam. Facilities include a hotel lobby.
Parents with small chidren would probably be most happy to keep themselves out of the main tourist crowds, red light district and noisy bars. We would recommend to get Amsterdam accommodation in the area around Vondelpark, the largest park in Amsterdam that offers a lot of entertainment for kids. For accommodations in and around the park see our page on Vondelpark.
Famous for its canals, cafes, picturesque buildings, museums, and liberal culture, Amsterdam has something for everyone. Rent a bicycle or take a boat trip to really get to know this hip city and its bustling streets and waterways. There are a range of hotels in Amsterdam to suit most budgets and requirements, ensuring you can relax and make the most of your stay here.
Amsterdam Airport has an outstanding shopping area, with many unique and stylish gift ideas on display, from Gouda cheese, to wooden clocks decorated with tulip designs, and merchandise from the world of Miffy (Dutch artist Dick Bruna’s loveable bunny character).

INK Hotel Amsterdam owes its name to the rich history of the building in which, as former home of the Dutch newspaper ‘De Tijd’, stories were conceived, written and brought to life in ink. INK Hotel is the place “where stories are yet to be written”. INK Hotel Amsterdam is a luxury design hotel, where the traditional rules of hospitality are freely translated to the modern day, rewriting the definition of ‘luxury’. Award winning, design located in the heart of Amsterdam.
Cons: My single room was tiny. It was impossible to see the television from the bed. In the evening, the lobby turned into a very crowded and noisy nightlife venue. Because of the crowd, it was difficult to get in and out of the hotel. Would never stay here again.
This lively hotel is right in the middle of the Red Light District. The rooms (and apartments) are decorated with playful touches like graffiti, vibrant wallpaper and neon lights. The hotel’s bar regularly hosts DJ and live music nights.
Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.
To get a feel for how the locals shop, head to Albert Cuypmarkt, Amsterdam’s oldest and busiest market. Here, you can find a wide array of cheap goods and tasty snacks, including stroopwafels, doughnuts, and egg rolls. Tulips can be bought from Bloemenmarkt, by the Singel, and Delftware, the famous blue and white Dutch pottery, can be bought at many specialist shops in the city, such as Jorrit Heinen Royal Gifts and Collectables in the Munt Tower.
Cons: Asked for a toothbrush, it never arrived. Several plug sockets in the room didn’t work. Spa is very basic, only a sauna available. Breakfast was a bit chaotic with food arranged around an open kitchen – needs improvement.
I tend to over pack for trips and my visit to a Belvilla holiday home was no exception. As I filled the car I had visions of my new neighbours laughing as I attempted to drag everything inside. What I didn’t know was that those neighbours would be non-existent.
Hi, Everything was great. Mo was kind and understanding when we got a bit lost getting to the apartment so ended up late. The apartment was perfect for our needs and we hope it will still be available in a years time when we return. So glad we have found amsterdamstay for our amsterdam accomodation. Warm Regards & Thank You Fiona
Pros: The front desk staff was excellent. The hotel was a pleasant surprise. I was thrilled to stay in a room that was large, clean and very comfortable. Loved the robe, slippers and balcony with view of Amsterdam Centraal! The location was perfect. Hotel is historic so parts of it are older but for the location and price I paid I would absolutely stay here again. Also I ordered a pizza from room service and was amazed. It may have been the best pizza I have ever had!
Pros: Great central location. Nice, business-class hotel with good facilities and service. Ask for room facing courtyard, which is quieter than street side. Kayak price of $170/nt incl (very good) breakfast was great deal for this property.
Pros: The Pulitzer was recently redesigned and it exceeded my expectations in almost every way. The location can’t be beat. It’s in a very smart area in Amsterdam with great bars, shops, and restaurants nearby. The design of the hotel is very chic. The interior courtyard garden is amazing. Everything was perfect except service at restaurant Jansz. Everyone was well intended but some people (hostess) abandoned post for several minutes and people were left waiting to be received and, &! My case, to collect my coat. This is one area of operation to inspect. Otherwise, everything was so perfect. I’ve stayed also at the Dylan hotel and Waldorf and I would say that this hotel is better than Waldorf because the design is so smart and not generic like Waldorf. And I would say it’s equal to the Dylan. Dylan is also chic but has a more classic design inspiration. Stay here while it’s still affordable. I imagine rates will increase once reviews and bookings start coming in.
Amsterdam has three main theatres which host a wide variety of entertainment. The Stadsschouwburg is the former home of the National Ballet and Opera and offers a mixture of contemporary and traditional plays, mainly by Dutch writers.

“Mooie locatie dicht bij station Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena waar je met de trein binnen 15 minuten in hartje Amsterdam stond. Verder nette kamers en goede parkeergelegenheid bij de P+R onder de Arena (1 euro per dag wanneer het openbaar vervoer werd gebruikt om naar het centrum te komen)”
The DeLaMar Theater is also host to a range of international theatre, musical, and dance performances. The Dutch National Opera & Ballet has been the main opera house in Amsterdam since 1986 and is home to the Dutch National Opera and Dutch National Ballet. Across from the Museum Square is the Concertgebouw, home to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and considered to have some of the best acoustics in the world.
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Amsterdam and couldn’t have asked for a better hotel. Very comfortable, immaculate, great location, incredibly friendly and professional staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel for pleasure or business trip.
