Cons: Our room was on the first floor, so keeping the windows open at night for a breeze did not work out as the street noise was too loud. Our last night we noticed a small visitor in our room, a mouse, who was persistent and did not want to leave. It was our last night so we just said our goodnight to our guest and slept, it’s an old building so I don’t think it is an “infestation” but rather something that comes with staying in an old, large building.

Good afternoon Mo I’d just like to say thanks for letting me and my 2 friends stay in your fantastic Hollywood apartment. It was my 16th trip to Amsterdam and the second time I have stayed in your apartment which has to be the greatest place I have stayed in the many times I’ve been there. The location is fantastic and your hospitality is first class and I’m always comfortable & never once have i never felt relaxed during my stay. Your apartment decor is fun and quirky which I always enjoy when I stay there. I hope we were not to noisy and your apartment was tidy after we left. I look forward to staying at your Hollywood apartment again hopefully in September or early next year. Thanks for a great stay Regards Rob Norris
Volkshotel puts you just a 5-minute drive from Stopera and features a nightclub and a rooftop terrace. Guests can indulge in massages and enjoy international cuisine at Canvas Restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A bar/lounge, a spa tub, and a sauna are other highlights.
If you want ultimate luxury during your stay in Amsterdam, this 5-star hotel is sure to impress. Located to the south of the city centre, it’s easy to reach the area’s bustling heart during the day and return at night to your sophisticated base. There’s a relaxing spa and health centre on-site boasting a pool, Jacuzzi and sauna, plus a Michelin 2-star restaurant for an unforgettable dining experience. This TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice winner also provides free high-speed wi-fi in the rooms.
The Old Centre is the heart of Amsterdam. Dam Square is the iconic centre of the neighbourhood, which includes the backpacker (and stag party) mecca of the red light district. There’s plenty of accommodation in central Amsterdam, ranging from hostels to palatial five star hotels. We’ve picked a few of the best hotels to stay in Amsterdam city centre.
A stay at the family-friendly Bastion Hotel Amsterdam – Centrum-Noord means you’ll be within easy access of the centre of Amsterdam and attractions such as the NEMO Science Centre and EYE Film Institute. The 3-star hotel features air-conditioned rooms equipped with minibars, LCD TVs and complimentary wi-fi, and guests can also make use of free parking. Make sure you enjoy the continental breakfast served each morning and relax in the evening with a drink in the on-site bar.
Dutch pancakes are a popular meal that every visitor should try, we recommend Pannenkoekenhuis Upstairs (so long as you don’t mind the steep staircase up to the restaurant) which serve generous sized helpings of this favourite, the bacon and syrup pancake being particularly delicious.
Pros: I spent two nights at the NH Barbizon and I only have positive things to say. It was a group of 5 friends and we couldnt be happier with our stay. The hotel in itself is beautifully decorated. The location is excellent across from Amsterdam Central and all the trolleys, but the best part of the hotel was the staff. Daniel helped my friends and I not only with our luggage, but with advice on getting around the city, recommendations for restaurants, and sightseeing. Overall great experience, and upon my return to Amsterdam I will definitely stay here and hope to get assistance from Daniel!
Cons: The front desk and housekeeping seemed understaffed. There always seemed to be a very long line to check in/out & ask questions. Rooms were not ready when promised although it ended up working in our favor as we received an upgrade & free drinks at the bar.
Pros: This hotel was in a great location and had very friendly staff. The room set up was a little strange. The bathroom was all glass and lacked privacy. The bed was also placed strangely with the foot of the bed against the wall. This was a very clean hotel, and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.
Our web site features a safe and easy-to-use online hotel reservation system with discounted prices for Amsterdam accommodation, especially when you book well in advance. There is no charge to make the reservations. A credit card guarantee is required to place the reservation, but payment is made directly in the hotel. Booking online via our web site is done on a secure server. For overnight stays at Schiphol, see airport hotels.
Cons: Breakfast was not included and would be an addition $30/person. At that price, it should include a packed bong and tickets to the Van Gogh museum. Rooms were terribly outdated and not in a quaint Dutch way, but in an oddly 80’s post-apocalyptic manner that made me question why I wasn’t staying at a hostel. Our shower didn’t even have a door or a curtain. 5 stars!? Are you kidding me? Europe must max out on a 10 star scale.
Amsterdam is so much fun Rent bikes as is great fun but be careful ! Great city for adventures Do the night cruise with beers and burgers it’s fun and a good way to meet people Great city to cycle around or walk and see a lot of places
Amsterdam has a quirky range of public transport, including traditional tram services that work through the city, numerous buses, and an extensive and efficient train service that runs to outer parts of the city and nearby towns. Thanks to the canals, there are also a range of water-based transport options, but the best way to get around is by bike – a firm favourite amongst the locals.
Pros: The Hotel Amrath is a jewel among luxury hotels–beautiful architecture inside and out; clean, spacious comfortable rooms; great accommodating staff; and centrally located so one can walk everywhere. Don’t miss the gorgeous pool and spa.
Pros: The location is great, opposite Centraal Railway station and you avoid the added cost and hassle of catching a cab to your hotel. Most tourist spots are within walking distance. Staff was great, they let us check in early and check out late which helped us a great deal.

Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport is really close to the city centre and therefore really easy to get to via a selection of public transport. The easiest way is to hop on the train, which takes around 20 minutes. Alternatively, there are a selection of buses outside the terminals that travel direct to various parts of the city centre. Otherwise there is a busy taxi rank by the airport where you can pick up a quick, cheap cab to your destination.
“The room was very clean and modern. Some people might think it’s a little bit far from the city centre but it’s quiet, safe and actually, it takes only 15 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal station by metro! Not far at all!! The staff were very friendly :-)) Next time I visit Amsterdam, I’ll book this hotel again! Thank you for a lovely stay :-)”
Beautiful city visually with great atmosphere. Too many options for Museums and Art galleries to cover in a few days. Free Walking tour was a great way to start and get ourselves oriented. Many options for restaurants….lovely to eat on the side walk. Experienced both open canal boat cruise and hiring our own boat with friends. Excellent fun.

Hotel Iris is in a typical Amsterdam building, just a 15 minute walk from Amsterdam’s bustling De Pijp district. Its rooms come with free Wi-Fi. Bike rentals and luggage storage are available and breakfast is served daily. Oosteinde tram stop is a 3 minute walk away, with services to the Rijksmuseum and lively Leidse Square. Dam Square and Amsterdam Central Station are a short ride on tram 16, which stops at the Stadshouderskade, a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The simply furnished rooms at Hotel Iris come with a TV. Each has a private bathroom.
Pros: I liked that the location was farther from the tourist areas but still within easy reach of anywhere in Amsterdam you might want to go. Great bar nearby with fantastic patio area called Meneer Nieges. The nearby Jordaan neighborhood is wonderful to explore, especially around sunset.
“كل شئ جميل..الفندق والعاملين في الفندق…وتم ترقيه من سويت جينيور الي سويت بغرفه نوم ببلاش وايضا طلبت سويت مطل على ساحة الدام وتم تلبيه طلبي بدون اي اضافات على السعر…السعر مقابل خدمات الفندق وموقعه يعتبر معقول…”
The Van Gogh Museum is home to the largest collection in the world of the famous artist’s work and is the most visited museum in Amsterdam. Here you will find his renowned paintings including the Aardappeleters (The Potato Eaters) and Zonnebloemen (Sunflowers).
Cons: Small room, tiny bathroom Room unclean, dirty carpet: when we first came into the room, there was a bit of paper on the floor. It was not hidden or difficult to get. I left it there on purpose and it stayed there for three days. It was finally removed (vacuumed?)
In Amsterdam you can find Amsterdam hotels that accept pets. Hotels of all categories that welcome a dog or cat for a small cleaning surcharge. Many of these hotels are situated next to a park, where you can take your dog out for a walk.

HOTELS

Pros: The location is perfect, walking distance from the train. We also walked both days from the hotel through the neighborhoods to the museum district and back. The breakfast and cocktail receptions were an added benefit.
Backpackers looking to spend the night in a cheap, friendly hostel will find themselves welcome at The Flying Pig, with two hostels slap bang in the city centre – one downtown (next to Amsterdam Central Station) and the other uptown. For ethical accommodation with an artsy twist, get with the cultural programme at WOW Hostel, west of the city centre.
This hotel combines 18th and 19th Century architecture with sleek modernity. The hotel has a fitness centre, a cocktail bar and a restaurant serving up Dutch fare made from locally sourced ingredients.
“It’s perfect location near tram stop that takes you to the city centre. Hotel rents bicycles as well. There is a bar downstairs and you can buy some snacks water and beverages by the reception. But we find Lidl very near by which was convenient. We could borrow eu adapter for deposit of €10. Room had kettle and tea provided, also lovely map of Amsterdam that we had used a lot.”

Budget accommodation can be found just a short walk away from the city centre. Leafy Oud-West, which borders Vondelpark, or vibrant De Pijp are desirable neighbourhoods, which offer a variety of comfortable hotels.
We loved the galleries palace museums and walking along the canals. Also trams were good. Many places did not take cash which was interesting and I booked the art exhibitions on line in advance. In short we loved it all.
This luxurious boutique hotel has views over the Keizersgracht canal. Rooms have courtyard views, flat screen TVs and Bose sound systems. Some have cathedral ceilings, rainfall showerheads and canopy beds. The suite has its very own espresso machine!
The Anne Frank House is where the young Jewish girl, Anne Frank, and her family hid from the Nazis during the war and where she also wrote her famous diary of the ordeal. Today, the house is a museum dedicated to her memory with the original diary, photographs and personal possessions on display.
Pros: It’s right in the center of things and I had no problem walking to most of the hotspots in the city which was awesome. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great design of the place as the rooms are pretty stunning. Would def recommend to others
