“The staff were welcoming, going out of their way to make you feel at home. The place had all the facilities we needed, it was super comfortable in the rooms and very clean. I will return here in future”
Amsterdam is a wonderful open minded city. Most people are friendly and unlike Germany not only the people is more beautiful but their attitude as well. This is my second time to Amsterdam ans it will not be my last one.

Business travellers may prefer to stay in Amsterdam’s Zuidas district. Known as the city’s “Financial Mile,” the region is located between the city centre and Schiphol Airport and features a range of business hotels near the RAI Convention Centre.
Cons: The picture they show of the room is not even close to what I had to stay in. My room was old, smelled horrible, most of the lights did not work, and the shower head was broke. This has to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a hotel..
Situated on Dam Square and offering views of the Royal Palace, the 5-star NH Collection Amsterdam Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky is an elegant choice. A short walk away, the 4-star Radisson Blu Hotel, Amsterdam, cleverly merges contemporary design with the historical architecture of 18th century merchant houses.
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Amsterdam and couldn’t have asked for a better hotel. Very comfortable, immaculate, great location, incredibly friendly and professional staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel for pleasure or business trip.

The QO is located alongside the Amstel river in Amsterdam. This hotel combines luxury, technology and sustainability in a living building shaped by nature. Guests can enjoy Dutch cuisine at the on-site bar and restaurant. Free WiFi is offered throughout the property. All rooms are designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, a flat-screen TV with AirPlay and an iPad to control lighting and heating. The private bathroom offers a choice of Zenology toiletries. Each aspect of the property has been designed to reduce environmental impact. From intelligent windows to the rooftop greenhouse. Offering Dutch cuisine, prepared with local and self-grown products, bar Juniper & Kin is located on the 21st floor overlooking the city, while restaurant Persijn is located on the ground floor.
Cons: I had high hopes for this property upon arrival, but overall was let down. I had the hotel dry clean three silk items, all of which were ruined. It took me over a week to get them to resolve it and in the end, they only paid out 75% of the replacement cost. We were put in a disabled accessible room located right by the elevator (despite not requesting an accessible room). It was loud, the accessible shower allowed water to get all over the bathroom floor. The vanity outlet in the bathroom wouldn’t work and it took them coming out two times to fix it, leaving me unable to do my hair both mornings we were there. Upon arrival, the woman who greeted us (and was apparently training) said that welcome drinks were complimentary for guests. When the man training her joined her to do our check-in in the lounge, he asked if we were in town for anything special. I mentioned it was for my husband’s birthday weekend and he offered to “cover our drinks.” This seemed odd given the woman had just told us they were complimentary. Not sure if he was being underhanded or if the woman training was just mistaken. The whole thing struck me as odd.
Hostels are cheap Amsterdam accommodation option where a number of people share one room or a dorm. Cheap hostels are a good alternative for those on a budget, but offer less privacy. They are mostly visited by students and backpackers, thus are popular places to meet fellow travellers. Most of the youth hostels are situated in the city centre and the prices vary from 17 to 30 euros per person. There are also smoking allowed hostels equipped with smoking room.

Situated in one of the oldest streets, in the famous old town centre, Hotel Internationaal is only 20 minutes by train from the airport and a 2 minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. The hotel has a friendly Dutch pub, which was founded in 1928 for the sailors coming back from their long sea journeys. Until today, the style of the interior has remained authentic, with a old harpoon hanging above the bar and a lot of other antiques reminding us of the “Golden age”.

I’d like to say the apartment was lovely. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we required. It was so much better than staying at a hotel as you feel as if you have a home base which is much more relaxing than a hotel. The location was ideal. Really close to the city centre on the many trams that went past nearby. It was close to a main shopping area where there were supermarkets etc. And to the local market that was there every day (except Sunday) . The local bars and restaurants were extremely friendly and welcoming…as was everywhere we went in the city. I would definitely recommend this apartment for anyone looking in this area and will be looking for availability here next time we visit Amsterdam Thanks again for all your help with my cancelled booking/re-booking Anne-Marie

In the summer several hippie-style campgrounds open their camping sites. These are not directly in the city, but most of them are within an easy biking distance of town. In Holland however the weather sometimes makes it unpleasant to stay outdoors. Some campgrounds offer chalets for such cases.
