HOTELS IN AMSTERDAM 5 AND 4 STAR | LIST OF ACCOMMODATION

Cons: The front desk and housekeeping seemed understaffed. There always seemed to be a very long line to check in/out & ask questions. Rooms were not ready when promised although it ended up working in our favor as we received an upgrade & free drinks at the bar.
“Geen warm ontbijt, maar dit verwachtten we niet voor de voordelige prijs. Wel genoeg variatie. De croissants waren heerlijk. We mochten heel vroeg inchecken. Aan de balie waren ze zeer vriendelijk en helpvol. Tramhalte aan overkant, met tram 14 vlot naar centrum Amsterdam. Mogelijkheid om ticket openbaar vervoer in het hotel aan te kopen.”
“The room was very modern and clean and the hotel is located in a safe and quiet part of Amsterdam, not too far from the city centre and there is a tram stop only around 100m away. We also liked that we could rent bikes here and the cafe downstairs was great. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. The room looked exactly as it did advertised.”
To get a feel for how the locals shop, head to Albert Cuypmarkt, Amsterdam’s oldest and busiest market. Here, you can find a wide array of cheap goods and tasty snacks, including stroopwafels, doughnuts, and egg rolls. Tulips can be bought from Bloemenmarkt, by the Singel, and Delftware, the famous blue and white Dutch pottery, can be bought at many specialist shops in the city, such as Jorrit Heinen Royal Gifts and Collectables in the Munt Tower.
Pros: I spent two nights at the NH Barbizon and I only have positive things to say. It was a group of 5 friends and we couldnt be happier with our stay. The hotel in itself is beautifully decorated. The location is excellent across from Amsterdam Central and all the trolleys, but the best part of the hotel was the staff. Daniel helped my friends and I not only with our luggage, but with advice on getting around the city, recommendations for restaurants, and sightseeing. Overall great experience, and upon my return to Amsterdam I will definitely stay here and hope to get assistance from Daniel!

We would love to give the following testimonial: We visited this home as a family of 4 (2 adults, a 12-year old and a 10-year old), and found it absolutely amazing for our needs. It was so central that we could either walk to everything we needed or grab a tram. Perfect for Anne Franks’ House, the Dam, Central Station and the Canal region. Fantastic restaurants nearby, with great food for all tastes! Although there was a perfect kitchen, supplied with everything that was needed, we found the restaurants just too tempting! The accommodation was perfect for a family. Sam, who met us, was so accommodating and helpful- we arrived early and he was still able to let us in. I have stayed in a lot of rented properties (in the UK, NY, throughout France and Spain) and this was one of the absolute best! Can’t wait to come back again. Thanks, Alison

Aanrader!”
Geweldige stad. Veel te doen voor alle leeftijden. Gezellige kroegen, lekker eten. Wel ontzettend druk. Café Hoppe (spui) is een topper evenals café old sailor (de wallen). Restaurant Haesje Claas lekker Hollands. Leuke rondleiding!
This lively hotel is right in the middle of the Red Light District. The rooms (and apartments) are decorated with playful touches like graffiti, vibrant wallpaper and neon lights. The hotel’s bar regularly hosts DJ and live music nights.
Hostels are cheap Amsterdam accommodation option where a number of people share one room or a dorm. Cheap hostels are a good alternative for those on a budget, but offer less privacy. They are mostly visited by students and backpackers, thus are popular places to meet fellow travellers. Most of the youth hostels are situated in the city centre and the prices vary from 17 to 30 euros per person. There are also smoking allowed hostels equipped with smoking room.
Pros: The front desk staff was excellent. The hotel was a pleasant surprise. I was thrilled to stay in a room that was large, clean and very comfortable. Loved the robe, slippers and balcony with view of Amsterdam Centraal! The location was perfect. Hotel is historic so parts of it are older but for the location and price I paid I would absolutely stay here again. Also I ordered a pizza from room service and was amazed. It may have been the best pizza I have ever had!
Pros: Bar and eating area were cool to hang and chill. The beds were a bit firm but I did not mind. Having to keep riding the ferry was a bit much but if you factor that into your commute you should be good. Currently there is a ton of construction on all sides which hindered me finding it the first time but once I found the bridge I was good.

Some of the historical luxury hotels or boutique hotels overlooking the canal are valued for their romatic atmosphere, as are houseboats, a speciality of Amsterdam. Several castle hotels, windmill and lighthouse inns are situated in the region, but not directly in the city.
Pros: The building is an antique that seems to recently been rejuvenated. It’s important to keep this in mind when coming here, because the place is not a modern hotel, and so some modern things may be missing. For example, the elevators could be quite awkward and I cannot imagine how the floors are handicap accessible. That said, the bathrooms were brand new and quite nice. And finally, they throw in a full, FREE mini-bar.
Amsterdam is a wonderful open minded city. Most people are friendly and unlike Germany not only the people is more beautiful but their attitude as well. This is my second time to Amsterdam ans it will not be my last one.

Budget accommodation can be found just a short walk away from the city centre. Leafy Oud-West, which borders Vondelpark, or vibrant De Pijp are desirable neighbourhoods, which offer a variety of comfortable hotels.
Like most major cities Amsterdam is made up of a collection of neighbourhoods, each one with its own personality and selling points. There’s the 9-Straatjes, a small area in the centre that boasts lots of narrow streets lined with quirky shops and cafes. The Centrum is in a similar area and is perhaps the busiest spot in the city. It has a plethora of museums, lively bars, and top-notch shops that are a big hit with tourists and locals. Then there’s De Pijp, which is similar to the 9-Straatjes in appearance but has a lot fewer tourists. This is where you’ll find lots of the markets and local, independent stores. Jordaan is one of the best-loved neighbourhoods in the city, and is home to a lot of young creatives, up-and-coming bars, and street art. NDSM-Werf is similar to Jordaan in that it is hugely creative and is called home by a number of artists, musicians, and students. Then there’s Oud-Zuid, the richer part of the city that caters to expensive tastes and luxury desires.
The Hoxton, Amsterdam is made up of a series of five canal houses overlooking both the Herengracht and Singel canals. The property has a fascinating history, dating from the early 17th Century, formally a residential town house that was home to the Mayor of Amsterdam. The hotel will consist of 111 rooms and will also house it’s very own Apartment, our meeting and event space like no other, restaurant and bar.

I tend to over pack for trips and my visit to a Belvilla holiday home was no exception. As I filled the car I had visions of my new neighbours laughing as I attempted to drag everything inside. What I didn’t know was that those neighbours would be non-existent.
The Old Centre is the heart of Amsterdam. Dam Square is the iconic centre of the neighbourhood, which includes the backpacker (and stag party) mecca of the red light district. There’s plenty of accommodation in central Amsterdam, ranging from hostels to palatial five star hotels. We’ve picked a few of the best hotels to stay in Amsterdam city centre.
Amsterdam Airport has an outstanding shopping area, with many unique and stylish gift ideas on display, from Gouda cheese, to wooden clocks decorated with tulip designs, and merchandise from the world of Miffy (Dutch artist Dick Bruna’s loveable bunny character).
Amsterdam ID Aparthotel features a rooftop terrace and puts you within a 15-minute drive of Anne Frank House. Guests can visit the fitness center for a workout or grab a bite to eat at Adam’s ID, which serves international cuisine and is open for breakfast. A bar/lounge and a sauna are offered, and in-room conveniences at this Art Deco hotel include refrigerators and microwaves.

Thank you, we had a wonderful stay in Amsterdam in “Happy Charm”. The host is a really a charming man and helpful host. The apartment is spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Although it is not really within walking distance of the city centre, it is incredibly easy to get to via tram 1 — as the on and off stops are just outside the door. And the location is great, backing onto Vondelpark, very close to all required services, and a comfortable walk to the museum area.
This modern hotel is located right in the historic city centre of Amsterdam. The central train station is within walking distance. Major sights, shopping areas, business districts and museums are on the doorstep of this stylish contemporary hotel.
Cons: No cotton washcloths No alcohol on the premises Small refrigerator No ice? Limited dining in the area Must take a taxi to/from airport or port, the train is too far to walk with luggage The price the hotel quoted us for the taxi was incorrect. The taxi companies charged more.
Pros: We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Amsterdam and couldn’t have asked for a better hotel. Very comfortable, immaculate, great location, incredibly friendly and professional staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel for pleasure or business trip.
The Rijksmuseum houses the largest collection of classical Dutch art, with nearly one million objects from around the country. Some of the most famous pieces on display are the works of Rembrandt, including his masterpiece, De Nachtwacht (The Night Watch).
Situated in one of the oldest streets, in the famous old town centre, Hotel Internationaal is only 20 minutes by train from the airport and a 2 minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. The hotel has a friendly Dutch pub, which was founded in 1928 for the sailors coming back from their long sea journeys. Until today, the style of the interior has remained authentic, with a old harpoon hanging above the bar and a lot of other antiques reminding us of the “Golden age”.
Known as Grachtengordel in Dutch. This neighbourhood is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and sits just outside the old city centre. The most popular areas to stay here are Rembrandtsplein and Leidseplein, two of Amsterdam’s most popular nightlife areas.
